Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 delayed out of 2021, gets new developer
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will not be released in 2021 and Hardsuit Labs is no longer developing the game. This was revealed in publisher Paradox Interactive’s 2020 year-end report, who have also decided to stop accepting pre-orders “for the time being”.
“We have made the hard decision that Hardsuit Labs will no longer be leading the development of Bloodlines 2 – which also means that we will not be releasing in 2021 as previously planned,” an official announcement on the game’s Twitter reads. “We’ll be sure to let you know more about the fate of the game as the project develops under a new, unannounced studio.”
Paradox revealed it has “started a collaboration with a new studio partner to finish work on the game.” In order to meet its ambitions for the game, the publisher came to the conclusion that “a change was needed”. They did thank Hardsuit Labs for laying the foundations for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.
Development of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been plagued by delays and other troubles, initially being pegged to launch in Q1 2020. The game’s Narrative Lead, Creative Director and Senior Narrative Designer all left the project last year.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is a sequel to 2004’s Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. It is based on tabletop role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade which is part of the World of Darkness series.
