The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is coming to Nintendo Switch
To kick off the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda this year, Nintendo has announced a remastered version of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. This game originally debuted on the Nintendo Wii in November 2011 and is the sixteenth mainline entry in the series.
Alongside improved graphics, the control scheme of the game has totally been revamped. Which isn’t very surprising, considering Skyward Sword was created for Nintendo Wii and relied heavily on its signature motion controls. This doesn’t mean that the Switch version of the game has no motion controls support though. Both button input and motion controls can be used to control protagonist Link. The introduction of button controls is necessary in order to play the new game on Switch Lite. To move Link’s sword, players will simply have to flick the right stick in the direction that they want to swing it in.
In addition to the game, Nintendo announced a Zelda-themed pair of Joy-Con controllers, resembling Link’s sword and shield. Nintendo fans that were hoping to hear the latest news about the upcoming sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, will have to wait a bit longer. Although Nintendo did say that the development is going according to plan.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be available on July 16th.
