Blizzard announces Diablo 2: Resurrected remaster
Publisher Activision Blizzard announced the long-rumoured Diablo 2 remaster, which is called Diablo 2: Resurrected. The compilation includes the 2001 expansion pack, Lord of Destruction. Diablo 2: Resurrected was presented at the annual BlizzCon, which was fully digital this year and therefore dubbed BlizzConline.
Diablo 2: Resurrected is being developed by Blizzard Entertainment and Vicarious Visions, the latter of which was merged into Blizzard earlier this year. The 2D sprites of the 2000 original will be converted into 3D graphics for the remaster, with added 4K support. The sound effects and music are improved as well, making 7.1 surround sound possible. Lastly, all 27 minutes of the cinematics have been remade “from the ground up.” Players will be able to switch from new to old graphics and back again, with the press of a button.
Diablo 2: Resurrected is coming to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
