Animal Crossing: New Horizons update adds Mario-themed items

To celebrate Mario’s 35th anniversary, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be adding all kinds of Mario-themed items. Starting March 1st, players can order all sorts of Mushroom Kingdom items from Nook Shopping.

These new items include iconic furniture like question blocks, Super Mushrooms, Thwomps, fire flowers and even working warp pipes. This means that, from now on, players can fast travel from one point of their island, to another. Players can also dress up as their favourite Mario characters by ordering signature outfits from Luigi, Mario, Wario and Peach.

The new update also includes items to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Girls Day and Pi Day. Nintendo first announced the upcoming update during the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct, back in September 2020.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Nintendo’s latest entry in the Animal Crossing series, consisting of social simulation games created by Katsuya Eguichi. Players will have to thrive alongside various animal inhabitants while carrying out activities such as fishing and fossil hunting. Animal Crossing is known for the use of the console’s internal clock and calendar to simulate real time. This means, for example, that shops close at 10pm and open at 8am.

The update will launch on February 25th, however players will have to wait until March 1st to access all Mario content.
