There will be a new game in the PUBG universe by next year
According to news website Bloomberg, a new game set in the universe of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will ship ‘by next year’. This was revealed in a profile which was conducted last year, meaning the game will be released in 2021. As of yet, there isn’t much information about the mysterious game. However, Striking Distance Studios, which is part of the same parent company as PUBG Corporation, Krafton Inc, is also working on a survival horror game in the same universe. This game is called The Callisto Protocol and will be released in 2022.
But that’s not all. Krafton CEO Kim Chang-han also revealed plans for an animated show, a web cartoon and is already looking to expand into movies. Whether or not these wild ideas will actually be realised, remains to be seen. One thing is certain though: Krafton is looking to capitalise on PUBG’s success.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has sold over 70 million copies in its lifetime and has been downloaded over 600 million times for smartphones. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a player versus player shooter game in which a group of soldiers will have to prove themselves in a deathmatch until the last man is standing.
